Real World conditions. Having flown 100's of small 3-channel copters, I knew a quick leap up to waist level would be better than finessing it up, so I went for it. Throttle stick to 50%. Wow, it had no tendency to ceiling-drill, just got lift. I was able to hold that lift quite readily with no excitement, so sidelong dodges. Out of the box it was *horribly* out of trim and as soon as it lifted off it took off backwards - fast - look out ankles! It took me 2 battery charges to get the forward/backwards trim more or less adjusted. Also, right out of the box one of the servo motors that controls rotor pitch chattered constantly because it would not stay centered. I believe that because of the defective servo it was extremely difficult to control and after crashing it a few times the "Rotation Blade Fixer" broke and with his part broken there was absolutely no control of forwards/backwards or left/right because the bottom/control rotor flutters on the shaft and the blade pitch is uncontrollable.I visited helizonerc dot com to investigate replacement parts and the Spare Parts button for the Thunderbird is not a button - it's just a picture of a button! When the Mail man finally dropped it off on my door step, I felt like a kid at Christmas. I ran to the door and ripped the package open. I saw the black beauty gleaming at me. I went to the store and bought fresh AA batteries for the transmitter, I made sure the heli was charged up. I turned on the transmitter and the heli and to my surprise nothing happened. The heli lights were flashing and ready to go, but the transmitter did not work. I tried different batteries and still nothing. I read and tried the trouble shooting methods that were in the instruction manual. Yet again, still nothing. Sadly I packed the heli and transmitter back up and sent it back to amazon. Now I am looking else where to lose my heli virginity. |
